Denise Jacob
originally
developed Affusion Skin Care to meet her own family’s need
for natural skin care products. Today, her unique
formulations are used by health-conscious consumers
worldwide.
She learned the art of soap making from her father, who
learned it from his mother and aunt. After doing family
laundry in a big cauldron outside, Denise's grandmother and
aunt would heat leftover oils on the dying embers and make a
batch of soap. They would stir it and leave it in the pot to
cool, making lye soap for family bathing and household
cleaning. It wasn’t pretty, but it worked well as a
household cleaner.
As commercial soaps became available, this died away in most
families. However, Denise's father always maintained that
his skin felt better when he used this more natural soap. As
he became semi-retired, he starting making the soap he
learned to make as a boy and Denise enjoyed this pastime
with him.
Denise's husband has always had dry, sensitive skin, and
found that this soap, especially the soap made with 100%
olive oil, calmed his skin immensely. His skin was still
dry, but he wasn’t in discomfort, as before. Suddenly Denise
became interested in what was going on. No commercial lotion
gave him relief from his dry skin. She began to think that
if hand made soap helped him, maybe she could research the
art of making lotion and its ingredients.
Commercially made soaps and lotion are made with man-made
chemicals and alcohol that can irritate skin, leaving our
skin itchy and uncomfortable. Over a period of four years,
Denise has perfected this lotion to become what she now
calls Herbal Replenishing Cream. As the lotion has
developed, special people in Denise's life have suggested
certain scents and even not adding scent. This led her to
research the properties of Essential Oils and what would be
soothing for different skin types.
During Ms. Jacob's children’s early years, she received a
trans-dermal medicine patch for the first time. The doctor
said many things about how the medicine absorbs in through
our pores and gives a constant dose in that way. It all came
together for Denise that day. We take for granted that the
things that we eat and drink affect our health. But what we
bathe in, and put on our skin can be just as important.
Denise started researching the ingredients of commercially
made health and beauty products and was appalled at the
toxins and carcinogens in almost all of the products in her
home. That’s when she realized the necessity of
all-natural
products for the skin, not just for her family, but for
everyone who desires to live a healthy life.
As the Jacob family and others have needed products, Denise
diligently researched how to make them and what would be
good for different conditions. She has learned through this,
how God shows Himself in all circumstances. Through
researching the different properties of different plants,
herbs, and oils, Denise have found that just as the Bible
clearly states, all things are made for His glory and show
God’s love for us.
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for
good to those who love God, to those who are called
according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
